Seafood Chowder Recipe

For those of you who enjoy seafood, you will enjoy this recipe. Chowder is a soup that contains chunky pieces of food. As the name suggests, seafood chowder contains pieces of fish or other edible sea animals.

Here is a simple seafood chowder recipe that is both delicious and takes little time to prepare. Ingredients Half a pound of sliced bacon, two chopped onions, six diced potatoes, one pound of scallops, one pound of haddock, one pound of raw shrimps, one pound of raw lobsters, one pound of cod, four cups of water, half a cup of melted butter, half a cup of milk, four teaspoons of salt and fresh parsley and half a teaspoon of curry powder. Evaporated milk can also be used, though it is optional.

Directions Using a large stockpot, cook the bacon until it is crispy. Set the bacon aside on absorbent paper towels. However, leave the fat in the pot. Place the onions in the pot and saute them until they become soft. Add the potatoes and cook for a few minutes while adding water. Allow to simmer for ten minutes.

Add the lobster, shrimp, cod, haddock and scallops. Stir the mixture and allow it to cook for ten minutes. This is the estimated time that this food takes to cook. However, another way of telling if the meal is ready is by checking if the shrimps have turned pink, if the scallops turn dark or if the fish becomes soft. Add the milk and stir. Lastly sprinkle the pieces of bacon over the meal and serve.

Modifications This is an open recipe due to the different types of sea fish that exist. You can opt to use octopus, crabs, shark, tilapia, mackerel or even bass. However, it is important to note that some sea fish have different cooking times and you may need to cook some earlier than the others.
